Abraham lake and surrounding area is by far our family’s favorite place to visit. We came across this area when went on our first, kid-free weekend, camping getaway. How we found ourselves on the shores of this lake is a story within it’s self. This stunning and magical area has taught me so much about myself and opened me up to connecting back to the lands in a ways I never experienced before. The whole area that surrounds Abraham lake is breathtaking and full of an amazing and powerful energy like no other. You have the healing energy from the water, the grounding aspects of the forest, and the freedom and wisdom from within the mountains; a true tree hugger, earth lover’s dream.
Surrounding the lake there is an abundance of hiking trails, waterfalls, rock climbing and so much more. Every time we visit, we find new places to explore and experience. There are many paid provincial campsites along the David Thompson highway from the town of Rocky Mountain House to the Abraham lake. As you move towards the lake you enter into “crown” land, where everyone is welcome to camp alongside the lake. This valley can be very windy so be sure to have lots of extra layers to cozy up in. And as always be mindful of the foot prints you leave behind as it will the affect the beauty of this place.
These lands are sacred and the energy it carries is unique and healing. It inspires expression, creativity, and connections not only to mother earth but back to yourself. I have experience the energy heal not only myself but others that come here to reconnect back to themselves and disconnect from the pressures of the world. I believe that every place is special but this is one is full of lessons and wisdom if you are open to listening and receiving. 
Words can not explain the beauty that exists in this place, it is one you have to experience yourself. So go, explore and be sure to set aside time to soak it all in.
